A 10 week programme that gives students
the confidence and skills to study successfully
at Year 10, 11 or 12.
The course is designed for students
preparing for secondary school studies.
Depending on their English level, students
may require a General English component
prior to this course.
Aims
- To develop speaking, listening,
reading and writing skills.
- To inform students about the education
system in South Australia.
- To familiarise students with teaching
methodologies they will encounter
in their studies.
- To introduce specific subject areas
and assist with subject selection.
The course is structured in ten week blocks. Students are tested on a
weekly basis and reports are sent every five weeks to parents and to
the students' intended schools.
English Language and Study Skills lessons
appropriate to secondary school studies
determine the curriculum. Students
are also introduced to methodologies,
forms of assessment, types of assignments
and other factors essential to their
understanding and successful completion
of their future studies.
The course covers the structure and
compulsory components of SACE - including
Australian Studies which also serves
as an introduction to Australian culture.
