Work Placement > Case Study 5
I was looking for a place far away from home to improve my English and to get new ideas and new experiences for my life.

It was a great way for me to do this by studying at SA Adelaide Language Centre for 4 weeks and living and working on a cattle-farm for another 2 months on the Fleurieu Peninsula near Victor Harbor.

I felt very content while studying English again, almost 20 years after studying at school . It was the best way for me to get used to the language again after so many years without practice. I really enjoyed the exercises and lessons with students from lots of different countries and the excursions as well. The picture shows our class during a trip to a state park near Adelaide.

After my time in Adelaide I worked on a farm.

The work on the farm was very varied. Working with cattle, a lot of work with a tractor for example; mowing, harvesting, working with a tedder, etc., some building work, gardening, planting trees, feeding animals and much more.

In this photo we are shifting cattle from one paddock to another one.

I was living with the farmer's family and I could join  the "real life" which was a really good experience.

Additionally the farm was surrounded by the wonderful landscape of the Fleurieu Peninsula.

This landscape with rolling green hills, little towns and a stunning coastline was exceptional.

Almost every day I could see kangaroos and lots of different birds as well.

The excellent organisation of the language centre led to a very successful experience.
